"Excuse me, mam, we have arrived at your hotel destination", said a firm elderly man voice. It was my taxi driver waking me up after a few minutes ride from Changi International airport.
With eyes hardly opened, I could not believe that I just arrived in Singapore again. My purpose of stay, as usual, was to discuss and negotiate high value of business agreements. And reviewing tons of documents following that.
Getting out of my taxi, I was welcomed by friendly greetings and beaming faces of the staff of the Marina Mandarin, a five star hotel in Marina bay area that I would be staying with for three consecutive nights. Judging from its outlook, looks like the hotel is not the new kid on the block. But, let see what they offer inside.
Coming from the ground floor, I took the elevator up to the fourth floor to do the check-in process. As I stepped-out of the elevator, I was amazed by the view in front of my very eyes. The layout of the hotel is very unique. It has an open-space style atrium that rises 21 levels and permeated by natural light. There are around 575 rooms accessible through balconies overlooking the atrium.

Decorated in simple modern design, the Marina Mandarin ceilings and indoor atmosphere are pretty, welcoming and elegant. One drawback, though, I reckon their interior style is rather obsolete. It reminds me of an opulent old casino place that I visited in Macaw many years ago. Only, this time there is no gambling involved.
The checking-in process was so easy and they quickly handled and delivered my luggages to my room in speedy seconds.
Talking about balconies, apparently the room also has an outdoor balcony overlooking Singapore's harbour and the city skyline. The view is even more beautiful at night with lights from the buildings adorning the sky. Arguably, this is one of the best spot to view Singapore's skyline.
(Apologise from my not so great pic!)
I stayed at a 30-something sqm deluxe room equipped with, among others, a working station desk, tv, a wardrobe, tea and coffee, hairdryer and toilletries. This minimalist modern designed room is uber cosy and instantly make me feel at home.
I personally adore their working station desk. Its spasious size allow plenty of room to move and place those piles of documents in the right order. And it's marble-clad too!

The bathroom is large and equipped with a shower room and a deep soaking bath-tub. That does not stop the perks being offered, though. I found their shower is fantastic. Not only it has the big rounded shower on top of your head and the smaller ones attached to the wall, but it also has two shower knobs to massage your body. Now, you know the reason why I took a long time to shower. *wink!
To put the cherry on top, their bathroom has a spasious vanity area and all toiletries are supplied by Loccitane. Superb!
Other luxury experience include an outdoor swimming pool, a gym area and a spa.

The breakfast buffet is served at the Aquamarine restaurant with choices of cuisines varies from Chinese delight to European favourite. Their variety of foods is stragering. You even can indulge yourself on a range of seafood palate started from their tasty stone crabs, fresh cooked prawns, succulent snapper and many others.
They also caters the vegetarian diet full of hearty fibers. For those coming from strict Moslem backgrounds, the good news is they serve halal food. You will see no pork meat served throughout the breakfast.
If you don't feel like having an onsite breakfast, you do not need to worry. The hotel is a throwstone away from the malls. Start with the Suntec city mall, then you will find plenty of options to eat. Do not rush, take your time and pick the best that suites your taste bud.
To sum up, staying at the Marina Mandarin is absolutely a great experience. Top notch city view, prompt delivery service and a halal buffet - how can we not make a return stay? *wink.
