We've done the wedding, the beach, the spa, even the "babi guling" (roasted pork). Now, it's time to "purify" ourselves. After all, Bali is the island of sun, surf, sea and spirit.
We visited this place called Five Elements Puri Ahimsa ("Five Elements"), a yoga retreat in Ubud. From their website the place looks so peaceful and calm.
The journey to reach the place was over one and a half hour. Boy, we never imagined that the ride was a bit challenging. This is because the street leading to the resort was very small and narrow, it was hardly fit for one car. Luckily, we managed to get to the place safe and sound and during the journey we were spoilt by the amazing eye candy view of green rice paddy fields. Not a bad journey after all.
The place was really soothing. Almost everything contains wood and bamboo materials. We felt infatuated instantly and couldn't resist but to smile with sheer delight.
The open-air lobby is decorated with high wooden ceilings. Upon arrival we were provided by refreshing cold drinks made with locally sourced ingredients. I must say they knew just the perfect mantra for us to let off steam.
When the check-in process was completed, we were escorted to our room. We walked through their amazing green gardens and the scent of frangipani was truly a mood booster. It leaves all the negative energy far behind.
We saw so many huts. Apparently, each hut consists of two rooms. The rooms are divided by a wooden wall. However, the place is really quiet. You hardly hear people's conversing around even if they are your next door neighbour.
When we saw the room, we were completely astounded by the view in front of our very eyes. The first thing that stroke our attention is its semi open-air bathroom. This bathroom is located at the front veranda and equipped with a big rounded bathtub made of natural river stone and an open folded window offering you the view of the Ayung river. We felt like we had a live telly in the middle of a jungle.
If you need more privacy just close the white curtains on the sides. The bathtub is spacious enough for two people to wallow in and ...(you know the rest, *wink). So, take your time and enjoy nature's hospitality.
Five Elements provides us with aromatic shower cream, shampoo and bath foam. The natural atmosphere of its surrounding was trully amazing. We really enjoyed the serenity.
The place also has an en-suite shower room at the back of the bedroom designed in an open-air style. Everything inside it is very natural. Even their wash basin is made of (again) natural river stone and the dryer is made of rattan.
The place has a swimming pool facing the Ayung river. If you feel like wallowing around you can opt in for a jacuzzi near the pool. Or perhaps just sunbathe underneath the natural green shade.
Here, you will feel truly united with nature. The wood element is so strong you can even smell it from your room. The fresh morning air and the sounds of the flowing water from the river and chirping of birds will make you feel like you reach that balance.
For the busy minds, there are some yoga sessions that you can follow if you wish. We were too lazy for that, so we just enjoyed the atmosphere.
Another great surprise from Five Elements was their breakfast menu. We had no idea that everything made from their kitchen is vegetarian.
We ordered a bowl of fried rice and scrambled tofu with grilled tempeh and a bowl of fruit salad accompanied by two glasses of fresh orange juice to drink. The smell induced my stomach to rumble. The taste? Oh boooy, it was so tasty! I've personally never thought that a vegetarian meal could be so delicious. It made me want to find a vegetarian restaurant back in Jakarta. I hope I can find a nice one somewhere in the big city. The best thing also about them is that you get the chance to eat under the rustling tree with that glorious view.
In a nutshell, Five Elements is very recommended for those who want to have a relaxation retreat. It will also help you to improve your diet and motivate you to live healthier. I deffo will return. One day. *wink.
