Toodz House, Cipete Raya - Jakarta

My significant other loves having fancy brunch at five star hotels especially on weekends. But, this activity has been becoming less interesting lately to me. Perhaps hotels' foods are pretty similar one way or the other. So, this time I like to experience something different.

A friend recommended us to Toodz house, a restaurant in Cipete Raya.

Cipete is a hip area for residential houses in South Jakarta. It is rather quiet and leafy, thanks to the line of trees along the road. Its sky is blue and bright and you can even witness the cotton-shaped cloud floating around in that bright blue horizon. This is one of the reasons why I like this area so much.

Another reason is because of the restaurants.

In recent years, restaurants pop up like mushrooms in Cipete offering plenty of cuisines to choose: Spanish tapas, a traditional west Sumatra cuisine or better known as Padang, a traditional Javanese cuisine, and many others. Not only restaurants, small boutique coffee shops start to sprung up simultaneously. So, to satisfy our curiousity we headed off to Toodz.

Toodz house is indeed a house. A house with unique interiors surrounded by green plants on the pots hanging at their front veranda and a tall tree standing in front of their parking lot providing the perfect natural shade to get away from the boiling hot rays during that time of the day. This unique house offers you fusion delicacies, an introduction of the east meets west type of food.

The entrance door trellises is charming especially because it has a traditional Batik pattern, a rather unusual pattern to find across around town. Well, at least I have only seen this one around the neighborhood.

For all ye smokey people, head off to their front veranda to hang around. Unless you don't mind the humidity and heat, the best place for lingering in the veranda is in the morning before 12 noon and at 4 pm (or above) in the afternoon.

Inside, there is a small library full of literature consumes. The genre varies. From novels to interior magazines, you can pick up the one to your liking. I opted for the magazine. Oh that kitchenette design just made me swell.

The menu is all-encompassing. They serve tea and coffee from the morning  all the way to the evening. The dish? oh, there are a wide range of cuisines to choose. We opted for the spaghetti tuna matah, which we can say is the bomb. Man, it is indeed so sumptuously good.

The texture of the pasta is perfect. A bit oily but not too soft and so rich of taste thanks to the Balinese spices that is put into it and make the taste so delightful. The chunk of tuna adds flavor too to the overall dish. Boy, does it makes me feel peckish again.

The mister picked up something more daring. By daring I mean a dish with lots of green chillies. It's spaghetti cornet with green chillies to be precise. I tried a little bit of this dish, but the taste was a fiery burning hot. I would not recommend this for the weak stomach.

Aside from their pasta, we tried their green garden salad tossed with red onions and slices of oranges and sprinkled with some nuts on the top. They taste so moreish and sumptuously refreshing. A good addition for our fibres intake too.

We felt really really full after our last bite of the salad. Perhaps next time we pop in to this place we will try the dessert. But for now, we are the happy and full-to-the-tummy customers. Thank you Toodz House. We deffo will make a comeback!
