Park Royal, Beach Road

I was on another mission to Singapore again, last week. Second time of the month. This time we chose a hotel that is outside of Singapore's ring of shopping malls to avoid that hoardes of people flooding the sidewalks. Let me introduce you to Park Royal Beach Road.

Here goes my review.

GETTING THERE

To get to the hotel was still an easy ride. Taking a cab from the airport it only took us less than 30 minutes to reach the place.

LOCATION

Situated on Beach Road, this four star hotel is off the beaten path from the fast pace of life in Singapore. In the front of the hotel there is Arab Street that is quoted as the Middle Eastern center of Singapore. It has a different vibe from Little India and China town adding diversity of cultures of Singapore.

On this street, there are a number of vintage buildings consisting of Middle Eastern shops and restaurants looking so pretty and inviting. There is also a mosque at the end of the street that is worth to check around.

Bugis MRT station is only about 0.4 km away. In the nighborhood there is also Singapore's public library and fountain of wealth as places of interest. If you want to walk a bit further you can find Suntec City at about 0.8 km away.

LOBBY & RECEPTION

I was blown away from the moment I stepped out of my office's Toyota Alphard car. The concierge staff not only greeted me hello, but they quickly assisted me with my luggage. They were so friendly and chatty too making me felt so very welcomed. I did not experience this with our previous hotel.

Their lobby is vast, sleek and modern. The lightning was dim hence the quality of the picture below (I deliberately did not filter or modify the pic). Checking-in was quick and the staff personally greeted me by name, wow! Somehow, I felt like staying at the Ritz-Carlton. The man explained to me also where to get breakfast, which floor the gym and pool are located, and other facilities that the hotel offers. Maps and tourists leaflets and information were all provided at the reception. I wish I came here for a holiday. Bummer!

ROOM

I was escorted to the sixth floor where my room was located. My room was a deluxe room of 35sqm. It was not as spacious as my previous room at the Orchard Parade hotel. But, it is still a cosy room with warm atmosphere to stay

I trully like their modern and minimalist design. One drawback is that their bathroom does not have any bathtub and the size is rather small. However, their bathroom still looks edgy and pretty especially the glass divider between the shower and toilet.

All bathroom amenities such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, etc are all provided. For bathroom amenities they us Saint Gregory toiletries. I like the smell of their shower gel.

FACILITIES

If you are a person who likes to get an active lifestyle or simply wish to stretch out your body after the long-hours work or walking on and about town, then head off to their spa, gym and swimming pool area located on the 4th floor. From the elevator you will need to cross the bridge (see picture below) connecting the hotel with the spa, gym and swimming pool areas. The gym has a complete set of gym equipments including treadmills. So, if it gets busy, do not panic, there are still plenty of equipments to use - guaranteed.

I did not have much time to use their facilities as my meeting finished at late hour and the following day I gotta dash-off to the airport to catch a plane back to Jakarta. Lucikly, I could still spare sometime to lie on a sunbed in front of the swimming pool and took pictures. The morning rays and breeze were so soothing.

BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE

The hotel provided a range of breakfast options in a buffet style. You can pick from something very heavy such as an English breakfast or complete Chinese congee to something really light such as fruits and yogurt. I chose to have a piece of toast bread with butter and honey, two slices of pork salami and a slice of parma ham. For the beverage, I opted in for a cup of tea and warm water.

They also provided local Melayu cuisines for you to choose from. It might not be suitable for those who do not fancy spicy foods.

CONCLUSION

I really enjoy my stay in this hotel. Too bad I could not prolong my stay due to such and such reasons. But, overall I strongly recommend this hotel for business travellers or those who are on a holiday including honeymooners and family travellers. The staff is friendly and helpful. It has a top-notch quality of room and facilities as well as delicious breakfast menu. I definitely will make a return to this hotel.
