In early 2021, after months of working from home due to the bug, lockdowns, and what not, we were in dire need of a vacation. Unfortunately, the world is still cocooning itself. Hence, leaving the city for a white sandy beach seemed to be far from reality. We were still apprehensive too as to the risk of taking a vacay without having been fully vaccinated.

So, we went for a staycation at Swissotel PIK Avenue.

Located in the north of Jakarta, Swissotel shows modern, sleek and bold design. There is also a sense of Swiss influence as they provide Bitcher muesli for their breakfast menu and Swiss inspired spa technology at their well-being centre.

The hotel offers a tranquil stay and a sense of privacy amidst the hustle-bustle of PIK area in north Jakarta. PIK is famous for its range of tantalising and cutting-edge eating joints. On weekends, the place is jam-packed with people and cars, creating traffic jams that can last for hours.

Among their well-appointed 412 rooms, we opted in to stay at the Signature room. Typical for a business hotel, the room is equipped with one king bed, a workstation, a sofa, a set of wardrobes, and a walk-in shower. But, one thing that truly striking from this room is its floor to ceiling view of Jakarta Bay from left to right. It's like witnessing a maestro painting, only the painting is real as we saw boats moving around the bay. We truly embrace this beautifully decorated living space especially when we get to see the sea every time we open the curtain. It soothes the mind.

During our stay we ate at their dim sum joint and tried variety of dim sums. Their taste was fantastic. When we feel lazy to go out, we ordered room service food and their room service was accommodating and responsive. We did not have to wait for hours for the food to arrive at our room and my baby can munch her favourite baked Norwegian salmon.

In the afternoon, when the heat was not too hot, I took my baby for a bit of swim. Glad that the hotel offers a big children swimming pool. I can still practice social distancing to protect my daughter from unwanted sickness. That day, she's so happy, she giggled and laughed out loud, and didn't want to leave the pool.

For day trip, we visited the mall next to the hotel and did a wee bit of window shopping. This mall also offers a range of delicious restaurants, we do not have to worry about where to go to grab a nice lunch or dinner. At the time we went there, there's a dog show event going on. We saw so many cute and well-trimmed paws, made me wonder if I could bring home one of them. Lol.
